Aussie Optimism Feeling and Friends Programme

Dr Alicia Handley 


Dr Alicia Handley is a Clinical Psychologist at Currambine Psychology Centre who is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. 

Alicia has completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology at the University of Western Australia, a Master of Clinical Psychology at Curtin University and a PhD in Psychology at Curtin University. 

Alicia has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and children who have a range of mental health difficulties. Alicia has a special intrest in working with children experiencing emotional and behavioural problems, as well as helping with parenting difficulties. 


The Program 


Aussie Optimism Feelings and Friends (Aussie Optimism, Curtin University) is an evidence based programme designed to help year 1-3 students to: identify their feelings and the body clues for those feelings:


  • learn cognitive behaviour therapy skills to manage feelings of sadness, worry and anger,
  • identify feelings in others,
  • develop social skills to get along with others.
